Hard drive, USB or other device not recognised

About this fault

You may have a 'device not recognised' error on a USB device, or a 'hard drive not detected' error on your laptop or PC. These are similar problems, but could have numerous different root causes, which could either be mechanical, software or electronic in nature.

It is likely that your data is still recoverable and we have the tools and experience to get it back for you.

Action you can take

In the case of a Laptop or PC, do not attempt to power up the device. With USB devices and external hard drives, do not plug them in to any device. These actions could potentially make the problem worse and possibly even prevent full recovery of your data.
