Data Recovery Question

Does data recovery fix my hard drive?

Yes and no, is the simplest answer.

Data recovery engineers may fix the device as part of the recovery process. This could be a temporary or permanent fix, but our advice to customers is not to rely on the device again going forward.

Unless you are 100% sure that there is no permanent damage to the device, such as accidentally or deliberately deleted files, it is too much of a risk to use a faulty device. If a device has failed once then it is highly likely to fail again even after a repair. This is particularly important when it comes to hard disk drives. If there has been physical damage to the disk surfaces or any parts have been replaced to allow data recovery, the drive is considered unreliable going forward.

Please also note that the data recovery process may void any vendor warranty. If this is a concern seek advice from the vendor.

If you are unsure then speak to your chosen data recovery specialist and they will be able to give you the best advice.
